What the cover letter for a product designer gets right
- 01
A project where you pushed back on a stakeholder and what changed because of the pushback.
- 02
A line on the design system or component work you own: name the library and the cadence.
- 03
One sentence on how you run research alongside the team that ships, not after.
- 04
A close that names a specific surface in their product you would want to redesign first.
What the AI resume agent changes in the product designer resume alongside this cover letter
- 01
Lead with the surface the JD cares about: onboarding, billing, dashboards, mobile. One sentence framing your last 3 years on that surface.
- 02
Name the work in their words: "design system", "research repo", "Figma library", "specs", "eng review", "QA pairing".
- 03
Quantify the outcome once per project: activation +X%, support tickets −Y, time-to-value Z days. The agent keeps the design voice intact.
- 04
If the post lists a tool (Figma, FigJam, Framer, Lottie), add it to a "Tools" footer line the agent promotes to the top.
